Trekking in Nepal

Nepal has captured the imagination of explorers and mountaineers for over 100 years.  It's a country rich with scenic grandeur and cultural treasures.  Unlike a backpacking trip in one of the 'Wilderness' areas in places such as the United States, a trek in Nepal is a journey through rugged and sparsely populated areas that's been inhabited by people for thousands of years.  The combination of scenic splendor, time-worn villages, and friendly people is something that is difficult to dislodge from your memory long after you returned home.  Nepal makes you want to go back again, now that you have a better appreciation of its cultures and natural beauty.  And believe me, the next trip will be far more ambitious than the last!

The trekking company we trekked with in 1999 and 2001 was managed by Buddi Rai.  The company was called Karali Treks and Expedition P Ltd.  As of November 2007, I cannot find any current information on this company or Buddi.  The political unrests that followed my last trek in 2001 must have taken a heavy toll on Nepal's trekking industry.
